Past Commodores

Richard has stepped in to the breach on a temporary basis having served the MCA well as Secretary and as Commodore in past years.

John returns to the role of Hon. Sec. after a few years’ break and brings with him a wealth of experience in administration.   Together with wife Ann, John spends many weeks each year at their boat on the French inland waterways.

Originally joining the MCA back in 1964 to be part of the Budworth Sailing Section, Roy has recently been cruising in the Med and moved down the Adriatic via the Greek Islands to Turkey but is currently boatless and content.

Past Commodore - Roger Cleland

Roger is best known as the author of the MCA Centenary Book “100 Years of the Manchester Cruising Association” and acted as Archivist for many years. Roger was involved with the Cheshire Schools Sailing & Canoeing programme eventually becoming it’s Chairman and was also Chairman of the UK & International ‘Topper’ Class Associations.

Geoff’s tenure for 2019 represents a record for the association as he becomes the first Commodore to have served MCA on 5 separate occasions.
He is also Chairman of the Royal Yachting Association’s North West Region.
Geoff and his wife, Joyce, have recently concentrated their sailing adventures on the Atlantic coast of France.

Nigel imparts a wealth of experience in selling and promotion from many years at the ‘cutting edge’ of sales & marketing for the pharmaceutical industry. Nowadays spending much of his leisure time sailing around the coasts of Croatia.

Simon brings a wealth of experience to committee having recently retired from a senior role in transport consultancy. He keeps his Cape Cutter 19 on Windermere, but has trailled her to class rallies in various parts of the country.
