Mauldeth Road West
Chorlton cum Hardy Manchester M21 7SX
Our regular meetings have been held here for the last few years and it’s an easy place to access having great links to the M60 Manchester orbital motorway & is served by the Manchester Metrolink tramway extension towards Didsbury.
The centre is the home of the Greater Manchester Police Sports & Social Club as well
as being the headquarters for the GMP Police Dog and Mounted Horse sections.
The facilities are excellent with a very reasonably priced licensed bar & conference room with overhead projector.
On the right is an interactive Google map showing the location of the Hough End Centre
Here is a map showing the venue in relation to the M60
This map is particularly useful because junction 5 of the M60 was designed by a committee
hell-bent on denying traffic access to the inner circle of the M60 ring from the
It shows the means to overcome this by heading a few hundred yards south & doing a legal ‘U’ manoeuvre back towards the city.

The Hough End Fields used to be the site of Manchester Airport!
The Avro Transport Company operated the UK's first scheduled domestic air service from the Alexandra Park Aerodrome(Hough End) via Birkdale Sands (Southport) to South Shore (Blackpool) between 24 May and 30 September 1919. It cost 9 Guineas. The Airport closed in August 1924

The entrance to the Hough End Centre is quite hard to see, especially at night.
You should watch out for the Horse Rider sign (as shown in this picture).
The Entrance is then a left-hand turn 50 metres beyond this sign.
